About

Marzieh Karimi is a visual artist currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. Her work engages with the individual experience and memory of different places in different times. Her work challenges the simultaneity of absence and presence, truth and fiction in photographs. She manipulates the visual information drawn from her photographs which transports her to charged and meaningful past moments, establishing a palpable, however imagined, space. Saffron has become an important element in her work in the past couple of years.

Marzieh was born in Tehran, Iran. She received her BA and MA in photography from University of Tehran before moving to Los Angeles in 2014. Marzieh finished working on her Master of Fine Arts at California State University, Northridge, where she also has been teaching black and white darkroom photography. Her work has been shown in several group and solo exhibitions.
